OPENING RECAP:
The 1st Annual Appalachian Trail Thru-Hiker “Convo” brought 34 current hikers off the trail and provided food, lodging, laundry and showers. Ten AT Thru-Hikers from 2014 joined the event and shared their trail experience.
Nearly 300 photographs from taken by last year’s Thru-Hikers were on display along with 45 postcards that are for sale. Visitors enjoyed talking with the hikers. first -hand, while browsing through the images.

Current thru-Hikers staying at the gallery will put their trail names in a hat for a chance to win a good night’s rest on an Assured Comfort® Adjustable Bed! These custom-crafted beds are manufactured locally in Bassett, Virginia.
ABOUT THE EVENT:
This event will be a “convo” of Appalachian Thru-hikers and Section-hikers along with an exhibition of photography they captured along the trail in 2014. Thru-hiker and Section-hiker alumni will be invited to meet with current Thru-hikers to share their experiences. Hikers, once registered, will able to stay in the gallery for the duration of the event as well as shower, relax, and restock. We will have many give-aways! The Appalachian Trail Conservancy and Roanoke hiking club will be represented as well!
RESERVATIONS: HIKER DETAILS
For hikers on the trail, advance reservations to stay in the gallery are required!
Reservations are made on a first come, first serve basis by contacting:

Space is limited. Early reservations are recommended and will close when space to stay is unavailable.
TRANSPORTATION TO AND FROM AT TRAIL HEAD:
The Gallery will do its best to provide transportation for the hikers to and from the McAfee Knob Trail Head on Friday, June 5th and Saturday, 6th. The pickup/dropoff times will be 10 am, 12 pm and 2:00 pm on Friday and 10 am and 12 pm on Saturday. Transportation to Troutville Trail Days on Saturday Morning is also available. The gallery will also provide transportation back to the trail on Sunday, June 7th.
ART SALES:
Hikers submitted original photograph to the Gallery for consideration. Gallery has chosen the final images and will produce 45 postcards that will be for sale to the public during the event on June 5th and 6th. We received nearly 1,000 images from hikers taken along the trail. It was exceedingly difficult to choose only 45 to publish. But here they are! The gallery is planning on publishing more images in the future and launching a line of postcards and note cards. We will keep you posted!
SALES DISTRIBUTION DURING THE OPENING:
20% of total sales will be allotted for AT related organizations.
30% of total sales will be retained by the Gallery.
50% of each sales will be given artist/photographer for each item sold.
COPYRIGHTS:
Gallery will produce items with permission of participating artists and photographers. Participants retain rights of their work. Any unsold work produced by Gallery after the event will be split 50/50 upon subsequent sales. Gallery will seek permission from artist or photographer to produce additional items.
