Images from March 4th Artist Reception
Born in 1968, and growing up in the 70’s and 80’s, Dave went through many experiences that shaped his unique creative sense. He began painting and designing in his teens; including taking classes at Berkshire Community College in Western Massachusetts in Graphic Design at age 17. By age 20 he was a full time Fine & Applied Arts student at the Rochester Institute of Technology, enjoying acclaim and independent study privileges with his unique and prolific expressionistic work. Dave’s path in life has allowed him to travel extensively and expand his creative and cultural experience. For many reasons however, some unknown even to himself, Dave did not paint or draw for over 20 years, although he continued working in actively graphic design for most of that period. A return to his first artistic love, painting, in 2012, has produced a new and growing body of unique, exciting work with a maturity and depth that compliments the exuberance captured in each image. His paintings reflect a lifetime of serious reflection, pain and joy, and finally, peace. His work has been described as “cerebral”, “whimsicaly surreal”, and “hauntingly expressionist”. Dave has an extensive Graphic Design portfolio but is now focusing primarily on Fine Art.
