Born in Ft. Monroe, Virginia and raised in a military family, Elaine Fleck is a painter best known for colorful works of fabric and oils. Her youth spent moving around from place to place, exposed to different cultures, are a huge influence on her highly textural paintings. She holds a BFA in painting and printmaking from Virginia Commonwealth University as well as further art training from the San Francisco Art Institute and City College of San Francisco.

Recent solo shows include the Columbus Cultural Arts Center in Columbus, Ohio, the Washington Arts Club in Washington D.C. and the Allegheny Arts and Craft Center in Clifton Forge, Virginia. She is the Best of Show winner at the 2022 Piedmont Cultural Arts Center in Martinsville, Virginia and the 1999- 2000 Best of Show winner at the former Art Museum of Western Virginia. She maintains a studio at her home and is a member of the Market Gallery, an artist co-operative in Roanoke, Virginia.
