Bio
As an artist, I like to observe the world and people around me and taking photographs during family and friends gatherings to use them as a reference for my oil and acrylic paintings. The focus in my paintings is the human figures and the way or showing them in everyday life settings.
Narrative plays an important role in my art where the figures animate the paintings. My images are kept in realistic style though there are some elements of abstraction in my work. Occasionally, I like to leave visible brush strokes and simplify some elements of my paintings.
Inexplicit approach to figure and interest in narrative painting were influenced by my professor Jaroslaw Modzelewski, who taught me in the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw, Poland where I studied painting and lithography, and graduated with Master’s Degree in Fine Arts in 2003.
My recent paintings depict children at play. As a mother and an artist, I observe my kids and paint what I see and experience. Life from children’s perspective fascinated me because it is full of magic, fantasy and sometimes real drama.
