Sarah Kirk Parcell is an artist native to the Roanoke Valley. Raised in a family of creatives, Parcell was profoundly influenced by her mother’s early encouragement, which fostered a unique interplay between abstract concepts and visual representation. After spending several years running various studios and warehouses where she hosted art shows and group exhibitions, she eventually transformed her garage into a personal studio. This space has become her sanctuary, allowing her to enter a meditative state essential to her creative process.

Parcell’s vibrant oil paintings are known for their broad, spontaneous brushstrokes that explore the emotional depth of human experiences. Her work delves into themes of nostalgia, vulnerability, joy, and suffering, often incorporating whimsical and eccentric elements that invite diverse interpretations.

In early 2024, Parcell began exploring pottery, adding a new dimension to her artistic practice. With a newly established pottery studio, she is preparing to unveil her debut ceramic collection later this year. This collection will also feature her new exploration of surreal Americana and also addresses the challenges, double standards, and contradictory expectations and pressures faced by women & men in America. This evolving body of work builds on her previous art, merging her tactile creativity with fresh thematic elements.
